	Nile Basin Society ICT The Nile Basin Society, in essence, is an ICT project aiming at raising awareness about Nile Basin issues particularly as it relates to integrated water resources management and avoiding a highly probable conflict over water resources. In addition to be a 'virtual organization' engaged in sharing of information, news and opinions, we have accumulated experience in selecting the best cost/effective hosting solutions as well as installation and use of different server software, e.g. discussion forums and mailing lists. We expanded to sharing this experience with Nile Basin organizations including providing initial free hosting, domain name registration, etc. Examples are: Association for the Environment and Wetlands, Uganda Volunteers for Africa, Kenya Save Our Planet Earth (SOPE), Uganda Our aim is to prevent exploitation of Nile Basin organizations by both local and international providers at least as regards to hosting, web design, etc. This is why we have installed both the DotNetNuke and Media Wiki that enables ordinary people with no HTML experience to design highly functional websites and portals. Currently, we are also involved with both ILRI and the Mountain Partnership in the role of communications. The Nile Basin Society also has a plan to establish a "Regional Information and Communication Center".	ad
